SAIL MV ANNOUNCES TRADITIONAL SAIL TRAINING PROGRAM FOR

TEENS…A traditional sail training opportunity will now be offered through Sail Martha’s Vineyard in collaboration with The Black Dog Tall Ships. The course will be available to all 13 to 18 year olds and will involve an intensive five day experience at sea on board the 126’pilot schooner Alabama. Students will live and work on board and be exposed to the skills involved in sailing and living on a traditional sail-powered vessel as well as skills relating to basic seamanship which will include deck safety, coastal navigation, weather, rules of the road and marlinspike seamanship. The first voyage will begin on August 15th . Students will board at 1300 hrs on Sunday and disembark at 1100 on Saturday.

WHEN:

• August 15, 2010 Depart from Vineyard Haven at 1800 hrs

• August21, 2010 Return to Vineyard Haven at 1100 hrs

PRE-REQUISITES:

• Applicants must be at least 13 years old

• Applicants must demonstrate prior experience on the water

ENROLLMENT:

• Enrollment is limited to 24 students per trip

COST:

• $600 per class…includes all food and instruction

• Sail MV membership ($50) is required

• Limited scholarships available
